As a designer / writer / photographer and lover of music / film and theatre, I’m constantly excited and inspired by all things creative, including both natural and man-made environments – anything that stimulates my imagination and conversation.
I don’t want to have a defined style and as such find myself going through phases driven by experimentation and failure – sometimes you’ve got to there, to know it wasn’t right.
I’ve worked as a designer for over 30 yrs and I’ve been creative director and owner of a design firm for the last 20+ yrs with the core business being the design and creation of museums, visitor cenres and cultural experiences across the globe.
On leaving school I went to art college and enjoyed all creative disaplines from printing to sculpture, graphic design to fine art and illustration. From that 2yr foundation, I went on to get degree in interior design and a masters degree in stage and costume design.
I’m now focussing on the more visceral, immediate and emmotional aspects of my creativity. The time I’ve spent in the commercial world of design was rewarding and fulfilling and I’ve been so privaliged to travel, seen and displayed amazing artefatcs and presented their stories to visitors viia many different mediums, to have meet and worked with some incredable people and seen so much of this fantastic planet.
I see art as subjective and it can / should be challenging both emotionally and intellectually – some people “like” what I do – I struggle to call it art – for me it’s satisfying, it’s something I find rewarding in being able express myself,
I only hope you appreciate it and perhaps even like it enough to purchase a piece.
Thanks Jan
